Hong Kong Secondary School Geology Research Competition - Silver Award and Bronze Award

Date: 29/11/2025

Two teams of Hoi Ping students embarked on a transformative geological learning journey over six enriching Saturdays from July to November. This immersive programme included a climate change seminar hosted at the University of Hong Kong, where students engaged in enlightening discussions about the relationship between climate change and typhoons on Earth. Furthermore, students had the opportunity to explore the Stephen Hui Geological Museum, delving into the mechanisms behind large volcanic eruptions. Field studies on the geological and geomorphological features of Tung Ping Chau provided hands-on experiences, allowing students to witness geological phenomena firsthand.

Students were encouraged to reflect on the consequences of climate change on Earth. Our educational approach emphasises a series of learning experiences that progress from initial exposure to application and internalisation of knowledge, shaping our students into conscientious global citizens.
